The EPS is an optical measurement system that can accurately measure the surface and form of extruded metal billets in real-time. It is also capable of measuring different extruded materials. Coupled by our smart control software, you can instantly and reliably detect dimensional deviations in accordance to EN 755-9. With accuracy down to 20 micrometers (depending on measurement size), EPS offers an essential feedback mechanism to maintain product consistency and quality.
Integrating EPS into production lines boosts precision and control, significantly improving product quality and the extrusion process efficiency.
Taraz Metrology was born out of the University of Nottingham’s Manufacturing Metrology Team, combining cutting-edge research and proven expertise. They provide high-quality measurement solutions that play a critical role in quality assurance in production processes globally, driving efficiency and sustainability across industries.
The EPS system uses laser profilometry techniques to deter corner defects of extrusions. It projects a thin laser line that gets reflected to a sensor, which can be used to check the angle of a corner of an extrusion. It can measure continuously with little to no delay between each measurement.
1) Real-Time Monitoring
The process begins with the system continuously monitoring the extrusion of the billet. As the material is shaped into a prismatic cross-section, the system tracks its formation in real time.
2) Instant Shape Analysis
During extrusion, the Laser Profilometry technology analyses the shape of the billet instantly. This step allows for early detection of any deviations, ensuring that issues are identified and corrected immediately.
3) Ensuring Precision
Finally, by providing continuous in-line measurements, the Taraz solution guarantees that the final product meets exact specifications. This proactive approach helps maintain flawless results and consistent quality.
